Offers a wealth of additional window tricks compared with some of the commercial products, [Etienne Ozeray] Version as tested: 2.0 b2. It has a plist browser like PrefSetter, though it does take a bit longer to launch. Once launched, it offers several significant improvements: First, it lets you search not just for the plist filenames, but actually for keys, values, and so on within the set of files! Second, I was relieved to see that in PlistEdit Pro, the delete function in the browser works. (In PrefSetter, it's always grayed out.) Also, the browser actually lets you "reveal" or "launch" the application whose plist you have selected without going to the Finder. Nice! Originally downloaded 12/28/05. With a new free "light" version out, it's time to take a second look at this Applescript utility, which supposedly improves on Apple's script menu, among other things. UltraMixer | Professional Digital DJ Solution for Windows, Linux and MacOS(X) I still plan to write more about SAM, including the details of this technique. But briefly, you need to use a freeware app called Dockless, which lets you easily, quickly, and safely turn off (and on) the menubar/dock status of any app on your system. If you do this, it's also quite handy to deploy an open-source preference pane called StepMenus, which works only with Cocoa apps (it's derived from the similar functionality that was available on NeXTSTEP, Mac OS X's ancestor). StepMenus ensures that the application's menu is still accessible even if the menubar isn't. With these two tools, QuartzClocks remains persistent on my desktop, and its menu shows up as a small floating pallette whenever I click on it. (StepMenus isn't strictly necessary, but I find it very convenient in a number of situations while using SAM.) "D-Type Font Engine consists of an ultra-fast grayscale rasterizer capable of generating beautiful antialiased type on screen or any other raster device." It works with TrueType, type 1, OpenType and type 3 fonts. For Windows, Mac and Unix. A demo (DType V3.2) is available. Located in Toronto, Ontario. [Google] [More] ⦿ Old but dead link.
